Birdies For Charity provides Iowa non-profit organizations with programming for children – as well as K-12 schools – with a unique and risk-free opportunity to raise additional funds year-round.

How does Birdies For Charity work? The 2020 Birdies For Charity program will provide up to a 10% match on all pledges made through the program. Matching funds will be distributed up to $100,000 in collected pledges, not to exceed $10,000 in matching funds. The Principal Charity Classic will redistribute funds to participating charities in February and July. Matching funds earned during the 2020 program will be distributed as a separate check at the end of July.
Everything you need to know to fully implement the Birdies For Charity program can be found in our online toolkit, available below.
Either: Must have 501(c)(3) status as recognized by the IRS and a portion of the organization’s programming must target children in the State of Iowa.
Or: A K-12 school in the state of Iowa.
How you can donate

There are two ways to pledge:
Option 1: A one-time flat donation.
Option 2: A per-birdie amount for every birdie made by the PGA TOUR Champions professionals during the three- day Principal Charity Classic.

What is a birdie?
A “birdie” is a score of one stroke better than “par” for any golf hole on the course. “Par” is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole. For example, on a par 4 hole, a score of 3 is a birdie.
